Who are CASA Volunteers?

They are people just like you!

CASA Volunteers are ordinary citizens, doing extraordinary work for children. They come from all
walks of life. No special legal backgrounds are required. They are men and women, some are
teachers, stay at home moms, they have a variety of different backgrounds. They are ALL
COMMITTED PEOPLE who have a genuine concern for children and their welfare.

We believe that all children have the right to a home with loving people to care for them.  But each
year in the United States, children are abused, neglected or abandoned by their families.  They are
removed from their homes and placed in foster care or institutions.  Eventually, they end up in
court.  Their only “crime” is they have become victims.  It is up to the judge to decide their future.

Should they remain in foster care, be reunited with parents, or be adopted?  In these cases, many
children also become victims a second time, lost in an overburdened child welfare system that
sometimes cannot pay close attention to each child whose life is in its hands.

That is where CASA come in. CASA volunteers are the only volunteers that are appointed by a
judge and empowered to stand up for an abused or neglected child in court.

Volunteers are the very foundation on which our movement is built and remain the most effective
and efficient mechanism to serve the greatest number of abused and children

With case loads growing each day, there simply are not enough trained volunteers to go around.
When you take on a case, you take on a child's future.  We need your help to meet this
 growing need..

A CASA advocate volunteer has four essential roles:
     1.  Represent the child's voice in court.
     2.  Assist the Court by investigating each case and reporting their findings and
          recommendations.
     3.  Monitor the progress of the case as it moves through the system to reduce judicial
          delays and continuances.
     4.  Facilitate the services needed to maintain the active and positive growth of the child
.

We hope you decide to join our family of volunteers, everyday people,
who are committed to making a difference……one child at a time.
